Walking to and from Leeds City Station

1/2

Walking to and from Leeds City Station

The northern section of New Station Street between the station’s main entrance and City Square is closing to pedestrians from Thursday 24 August  to allow Network Rail to carry out essential works to the road.

The works are being carried out at the same time as the Sustainable Travel Gateway scheme to minimise long-term disruption.

Closing the northern section of New Station Street means you will not be able to turn left as you leave the station’s main entrance and walk towards the city centre.

Instead you can:

  • Walk towards Boar Lane from the station’s main entrance by turning right and travelling along the other side of New Station Street. This is the blue line on our map.

  • Use the station’s northern entrance (past the restaurants and Wetherspoon pub) to reach City Square, Infirmary Street, Park Row and Wellington Street. This is marked with a green 'N' on our map.

  • Reach the south bank areas of the city by following New Station Street onto Boar Lane and looping back onto Mill Hill (blue line on our map), or by using the station’s southern entrance which is open between 6am and 10pm. This is marked with an orange 'S' on our map.
